Lifting Equipment Not in the Regulations

The Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA) is the current overarching legislation covering lifting equipment maintenance in NZ, but practical guidance that details maintenance and recording responsibilities is found in the older Health and Safety in Employment (Pressure equipment, cranes and passenger ropeways) Regulations 1999 (PECPR).

Importantly, the regulation of a range of lifting equipment fell outside the scope of PECPR, leading to ambiguity surrounding the provisioning of compliance documentation for such equipment. This ‘non-PECPR’ lifting equipment nonetheless clearly still needs documented maintenance and independent maintenance verification under HSWA.

IEM is knowledgeable and experienced with the inspection, risk assessment and compliance documentation of non-PECPR lifting equipment.
