Annual Shutdown Maintenance Support
Background
IEM was entrusted with a critical project, providing essential support for its client’s annual maintenance shutdown. A specialised team – comprised of Mechanical Supervisors, a Planner/Scheduler, and dedicated Administrative Support – was deployed to ensure the highest standards and timely completion of maintenance outcomes for a leading manufacturer in the wood fibre processing industry. With a cumulative industry experience exceeding 150 years, IEM’s team was well-equipped to manage this project.
Project Objectives & Outcomes
With a focus on high-risk assets maintenance, the project team undertook rigorous planning and checks to ensure the protection of personnel and assets. Two dedicated HSWA Tank Supervisors played a pivotal role in overseeing and enforcing compliance with Hazardous Substances and Health and Safety at Work Act (HSWA) regulations. Their responsibilities included meticulously monitoring the safety measures associated with managing and maintaining 16 hazardous substances tanks, and implementing corrective actions as necessary. The team also provided support and advice to ensure the client’s boilers met PECPR regulations.
The project wasn’t just about executing the maintenance work; it was a comprehensive endeavour that encompassed maintaining the highest standards in wood fibre processing equipment. The team supervised various subcontractors on behalf of the client, ensuring that the project’s goals were met with precision.
Transparent and accurate progress updates were a vital part of the project. Daily high-level reporting on shut progress and schedule provided the client with full visibility into the project’s status, enabling timely decision-making. At the project’s completion, the client received high-level reporting, which serves as a valuable resource for future maintenance and improvement initiatives.
The Annual Shutdown Maintenance Support project, managed by Chris Carswell, was successfully completed within the specified timeline, commencing on September 11, 2023, and concluding on September 27, 2023. Ian Stokes, Planner/Scheduler, helped to ensure the project’s smooth execution.
IEM takes pride in its ability to provide innovative engineering and maintenance solutions that prioritise safety, compliance, and sustainability. This project reflects the company’s commitment to excellence and its role in supporting clients’ operations. The project facilitated the successful attainment of Compliance Certification.
